I make no pretense of having invented solar energy, as some of my friends jokingly claim. Indeed, it was only in 1955 at Phoenix’s World Symposium that I discovered the stuff. Since then I have listened to solarpowered radios, drunk solar-distilled water, and eaten solarcooked steaks. I have also become increasingly convinced that the day is nearing when we will do far more with this energy than power our satellite and space vehicle equipment.
